- I want Abilene to be a place with higher paying jobs and opportunities where our children and grandchildren can afford to live here and enjoy our wonderful quality of life
- Where thousands of people traveling I-20 see Abilene as a City of dynamic growth and economic activity driven by our family friendly atmosphere that welcomes and encourages new ideas and development, cultural and recreational choices and a quality of life full of economic opportunity for all of our citizens, in addition to being a great place to visit - a truly friendly frontier
- To reach our Vision for Abilene, we must continue our efforts to be user friendly at City Hall; expand our job creation and retention efforts; expect accountability for performance and effectiveness on every economic initiative
- Help local business and Dyess grow and expand as much as we help out of towners to relocate
- Improve our streets, sidewalks, and communication infrastructure
- Find solutions to our water issues-availability, flooding, detention and conservation
- Improve our position as a regional medical, education, research and wind energy center
- Provide careful oversight of the Comprehensive Plan to make certain its implementation is realistic, flexible, and encourages a common sense approach to incentivize infill, downtown development, overall growth and economic development
- Continue to enhance our police and fire departments and senior citizen programs
- Seek creative ways to enhance our lakes, parks, recreational and cultural activities to attract and retain skilled employees, professionals, students, military personnel and those looking for a great place to live, work or retire, while being fiscally conservative in providing the services our citizens expect and deserve
